Japan Trip: Kyoto - Kiyomizu-dera Temple

This place is amazing and has beautiful views... Kiyo (pure) mizu (water), this temple as such is named after the sacred spring that flows from the mountain. Plenty of greenery and mountain/city veiws. The stage area is interesting, especially hearing of how in traditional times people would leap off (basically suicide) to prove their bravery...

The water tastes really good! but the lines are long. Otowa Waterfall

The main hall's broad wooden veranda which juts out over a wooded canyon. Supported by 139 pillars, 15m high, it gives a panoramic view of Kyoto. It is the origin of a Japanese proverb, "Junping from Kiyomizu Veranda" which meas to take a determined step..

Fushimi Inari Shrine (Fushimi Inari Taisha), Kyoto -Japan

I went to Japan early september this year..went to several place for sightseeing..several things need to be done to get the visa to japan for malaysian passport holder..but worth it..
one of the nice place in Kyoto, Japan is Fushimi Inari Shrine...there are countless temples in Kyoto and after a while, one would want to see something different.

The Fushimi Inari Shrine stands out because of its thousands of torii gates lining a hiking trail up the mountain...the atmosphere and the sights are lovely, and the little clusters of smaller shrines are just as spectacular as the thousands of brightly coloured torii gates, and there are also nice forested areas around the mountains good for walking if you happen to wander off the more beaten track.
even if you think “I have seen so many shrines” you need to see this one.

you won’t experience anything like this anywhere else in the world...the paths are like orange tunnels that go on and on through the forest... it felt surreal but most of all it felt amazing!

Be sure to go with a couple hours expecting to explore the massive and complex shrine grounds..

Exploring Inari is not really hiking by any means, but be sure the wear shoes you are okay walking on uneven ground and on stairs for a few hours

The two dense rows of torii gates of Senbon Torii

My memory of my day walking through Fushimi-Inari-Taisha is not linear but jumbled with the smell of stone and earth and the chill of light breezes carrying cool, damp air...i remember walking through the winding bright red torii gates, clambering up and down steep stone steps, my eyes adjusting to the dark green woodland shade as, lost in valleys of ferns and mossy stone, i saw carvings of figures and foxes and aged shrines. i remember putting my hands under a tiny waterfall and wondering whether that was wise. a stranger to this magical place, i did not know the rules.. peace (",)Y

Beijing Trip 2012

frankly I like travelling a lot ..so, im about to start writing again after quite a long time.. well  about 6 hours of long haul flight was quite exciting..direct from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing (Peking)...
i was in beijing for 10days..just in beijing.... i went to Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Fragrant Hill, Wang Fu Jing Shopping Street, Tian 'An Men Square, summer palace etc etc to name a few...

some travel tips in beijing:

* Beijing Train Subways are crowded during rush hours and most of time..but the fare is cheap (2yuan/journey) except Airport Expressway cost about 25yuan..

* it was easy to approach buses in city and the fare as cheap as 1yuan per journey...

* passengers for beijing subways are not allow to bring in drinking water. in other words, u must drink the water infront of the security officer to prove that the liquid u bring is not dangerous/hazardous.

just a few of my photos during beijing trip last month...
